Pond keeping doesn't mean you've got to look back to those horrible high school chemistry classes but you do need to know the basics.
Testing your water is good practice and is easily done using drop type tests or Oase Quicksticks.
Testing pond water is as easy as testing swimming pool water. The main things to check in a pond is pH and Carbonate Hardness and if these are out of balance there are treatments to correct any imbalances.
When keeping fish you may also want to check for Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates but don't worry, if you're using a good quality biological filter these should be fine and you just need to check them every now and then. Our FAQ section will provide you further information as will your local dealer.
