Our History

Michael Cave was employed by his father, Colin in March 1992 to work for the then named "Goldfish and Lily Farm". Colin provided Michael with the opportunity to establish a new wholesale venture and so "Cave Distributors" started operations in June 1992.
 
Initially the main product sold was imported fish food however during 1993 new lines were sourced from the Eastern States of Australia and Asia, and so began the expansion of Cave Distributors. An agency agreement in 1994 as the sole Western Australian distributor for a well known range of watergarden products brought new life into the business, the company name was changed to CLEARPOND as a means to better identify the brand.

By the beginning of 1996 it was becoming evident that for Clearpond to be successful in the long term it needed to start importing the majority of its products directly from overseas manufacturers. It was also necessary to establish long term strategic alliances with major overseas manufacturers to allow exclusitivity with their products on a national basis. A wide range of top quality watergardening, lake management & fountain technology products are now imported from around the world.
 
Clearpond is the Sole Australian & New Zealand distributors for reputable brand names such as OASE Pumpen of Germany, Eden Pumps of Italy as well as many other fine products under their own private labels CLEARPOND & AQUAGARDEN.
 
Clearpond manufactures a variety of products including Hot Moulded Formed Plastic ponds, fibreglass ponds, filtration equipment and water treatments.
 
Continued development of the Clearpond brand name of quality watergarden products is a major long term strategy.
 
Clearpond now supplies markets in the Eastern States of Australia. During 1997 this was heavily intensified by direct representation, trade exhibitions, and advertising. The success in the East in 1997 provided a springboard and increasing momentum in 1998 and 1999 which culminated in November 2000 with the opening of Clearpond Melbourne.
 
In March 2001 it was decided that a much larger warehouse and administration facility was required and new premises were purchased in Kewdale (Perth), near the International air terminal. Extensive renovations were completed and the grand opening on the 15th August 2001 coincided with the announcement of a new sole distribution agreement with OASE of Germany (The largest watergardening manufacturer in the world.)
 
New alliances meant new opportunities. Throughout 2002 a strengthening of presence on the east coast was ensured with new larger warehousing facilities in Melbourne being established and the employment of  full time Account Manager in Sydney in August 2002.
 
Clearpond entered the New Zealand market in August 2005. A full time Account Manager and warehousing facilities are now well established in Auckland.
 
New product categories ensure a vibrant, proactive and determined effort will be made in the domestic & commercial watergardening market throughout the coming years. Solid sustainable growth is expected as new marketing & sales strategies are implemented into the future.
 
Further expansion into new international markets are currently being considered.  
 
Clearpond acknowledges that we are only as good as our people, therefore we strive to employ only the best and provide both in-house and external training to ensure we keep ahead of the rest. Our standard is defined by the customer’s expectations being met or exceeded, not by our perceptions as a supplier.
 
Our goal is to work in partnership with our customers through the use of the latest technologies, careful design and supply of the most appropriate watergarden system for that particular application.
